In 1995 four friends at St. Olaf College got together one weekend to sing some songs. Ten years later, Cantus is one of the nation’s only full-time choral groups. Highlights include both singer and audience favorites from the last decade. A portion of this program will feature songs selected directly by the audience! Take part in an elegant dinner followed by a marvelous art auction -- all taking place on the stage of the Washington Pavilion's Great Hall. Returning this year is the popular silent auction featuring items donated by a host of local businesses.
The annual Arts Night auction is the second-largest annual fund-raising event for the Visual Arts Center. Proceeds from the event are used entirely to support the center's galleries and exhibitions, with special emphasis on the "Here and Now" gallery.

Mayor's Awards for the Arts, an annual celebration of the arts, local artists, and advocates for the arts in the Sioux Falls area, will be held on May 19, 2006. Award winners in five categories will be revealed at this annual celebration held in the Belbas Theatre of the Washington Pavilion.
Categories include Excellence in the Literary Arts, Excellence in the Performing Arts, Excellence in the Visual Arts, Outstanding Organizational Arts Advocacy, and Outstanding Individual Arts Advocacy. Nominations are made from the public, and a panel of 3 jurors in each category makes the final selection.
Reception ($15 per person) from 6:30 - 8:00.
